At this past State Review Board meeting, I had two projects up for review: the Lafayette Presbyterian Church and the Palmyra Village Historic District which expanded and united preexisting districts into a large comprehensive district. I am happy to report that both were successfully added to the State Register of Historic Places and are now headed to the Secretary of the Interior's desk for addition to the National Register! Recently NPS posted the official notification that the Cooperage/ E. & B. Holmes Machinery Company Building has officially been signed and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Hooray! This is a great success for all of us. The City has wanted to tear this building down and throw the owner in jail. Now it's an official state and national landmark. Good things! Oh, and if you're interested in pre-leasing to live in this awesome building, let me know! Recently I purchased a brand new camera! I was starting to feel a bit silly when I would take my little point-and-shoot to take "official NRN" photos. So I purchased a Canon xSi. Now all I need is a wide-angle lens, a perspective correcting lens and a big flash! I'm hoping to do some more traveling this summer. I still hope to make it down to Pittsburgh and back to Charlottesville, but I am definetly headed back to my second home in Charlotte, NC at the end of July. Yay- travel! And I need to spend more time writing some of the many articles and books I keep meaning to write!! |
